FedRAMP High, and What It Means to Build for Government

Most of the data people share, they share by choice. They pick the app, skim the terms, and decide how much to hand over. Government data doesn't work that way. To get a benefit, renew a license, or apply for assistance, people have to share some of the most sensitive information they hold — and they can't opt out.

That changes what data protection means. When someone has no choice but to trust an agency with their income, their health history, their identity, protecting that information has to come first.

We built SimpliGov for government, and building for government means accepting the responsibility that comes with holding the public's data. That's why SimpliGov is now FedRAMP High authorized — the most rigorous security standard the federal government sets for cloud platforms. Meeting it is how we honor that responsibility to every federal, state and local agency we serve. Designing for security has been part of building for government from the start, and FedRAMP High represents our latest milestone.  

What FedRAMP high actually requires

Meeting that standard means running on a dedicated U.S. Government cloud, keeping each agency's data isolated from every other agency's, and proving the data can be recovered if the unexpected happens, tested end to end and tested regularly. It's the difference between saying data is safe and being able to show it. FedRAMP High joins the standards SimpliGov already holds, including HIPAA, SOC, and PCI-DSS, each one verified by independent assessors.

AI doesn't get an exception

A security commitment only counts if it holds when something new comes along. Right now, that something is AI. As agencies rush to adopt it, the data moving through those tools deserves the same protection as everything else — which is why SimpliGov's AI runs inside the same authorized government cloud as the rest of the platform.

What FedRAMP high doesn't change

None of this is work the public will ever see. They won't know their data sat in an isolated environment, or that recovery was tested long before it was ever needed. But that invisible work is what building for government actually means: prioritizing the things no one notices until they fail. FedRAMP High is one measure of that commitment. It won't be the last.
